QS World University Rankings 2023: IIT Bombay becomes best education institute in South Asia

Mumbai: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has been listed as the best educational institute in Southern Asia. Meanwhile, IIT Delhi ranks second in the region, according to the QS Asia University Rankings 2023. The 15th edition of the QS World University Rankings: Asia features 757 institutions – up from 687 last year and making it the biggest ranking for the region yet.

The major locations represented in the rankings include China Mainland (128 institutions), India (118), Japan (106), and South Korea (88), accounting for more than half of all ranked institutions.

In the rankings released on 8 November, IIT Bombay was evaluated as not only India's but Southern Asia's top higher education institution.

IIT Delhi secured second place in the rankings for India and Southern Asia, followed by the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru ranked at the third spot.

IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Kanpur also made it to the top six in the rankings.

China's Peking University topped the overall Asia rankings, with IIT Bombay ranked at 40th position in the list, IIT Delhi at 46, IISc Bengaluru at 52, IIT Madras at 53, IIT Kharagpur at 61, and IIT Kanpur at 66.
