New Delhi: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has asked technical institutions to provide a copy of the stipend scheme for vocational training of disabled persons (PwDs). The Council has informed the institutions to educate students, faculty and staff members about the scheme so that the “needy may take benefits of the scheme”. The Ministry of Labour and Employment is starting a scheme for vocational training of PwDs with a stipend of Rs 2,500 per month for every trainee.
“Directorate General of Employment (DGE), Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India is implementing a programme for providing vocational rehabilitation assistance to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) through a network of 24 National Career Service Centres for Differently Abled (NCSC-DAs) across the country. Directorate General of Employment (DGE), Ministry of Labour and Employment is providing stipend @ Rs 2,500 per month per trainee for a maximum duration of 12 months to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs),” said an official statement from AICTE.

Further, the Ministry also proposed to increase the rate of stipend for which a comparative statement of similar stipend being paid by ministries or departments of government, needs to be prepared for further consideration.
“In view of the above, it is requested to kindly provide a copy of such schemes which may be in operation in your institute for facilitating the preparation of a consolidated comparative statement to the Directorate General of Employment,” said AICTE.
