The University Grants Commission (UGC) has declared a special provision requiring higher education institutions to provide a full refund of fees for all admissions canceled or migrated until October 31, 2022, for the academic sessions of 2023-2024.

The UGC stresses that the entire payment, including charges, shall be reimbursed with no cancellation costs.

In addition, the UGC has specified a return mechanism for cancellations or withdrawals submitted between November 1 and December 31, 2022. According to this guideline, colleges must reimburse the total fee collected from the student after deducting a processing fee of no more than one thousand rupees.

The recently established policy provides enormous assistance to students, particularly those in engineering institutes, who have struggled to earn certifications owing to enrollment cancellations or migrations. Higher education institutions with admissions schedules that stretch beyond October 31 are now required to repay the entire cost if students withdraw 15 days or more before the last admission date, according to the new regulations.

Students who cancel their admissions within 15 days of the deadline will receive a 90% fee refund. Similarly, if students cancel their applications within 30 days before the deadline, colleges must repay 50% of the admission price. Cancellations made more than 30 days after the stated deadline will not be refunded.
