Top Indian Universities in QS World University Rankings

The yearly publication of University rankings by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) is known as the QS World University Rankings. The QS system comprises three parts: the international common overall ranking, the subject rankings, five faculty areas, and five independent regional tables, namely Asia, Latin America, Emerging Europe and Central Asia, the Arab Region, and BRICS.
The subject-wise ranking names the world's top universities to study 51 different subjects.
The QS ranking receives authorisation from the International Ranking Expert Group (IREG), and it's considered one of the three most widely read university rankings globally, along with the Academic Ranking of World Universities and Times Higher Education World University Rankings. 
 
The QS World University Ranking was released on Wednesday, April 6, 2022. According to the global ranking, MIT has been awarded the best university for the tenth consecutive year. This year, World University Rankings features a sum of 1,029 universities.

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) has secured - 177th rank
Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) has secured - 85th rank
Indian Institute of Science has reserved - 186th rank
Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) has secured - 255th rank
Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITD) has secured - 277th rank
Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IITK) has secured - 280th rank
Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG) has secured - 395th rank
Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR) has secured - 400th rank
The University of Delhi has secured - the 501st rank
Jawaharlal Nehru University has secured - 561st rank 
 
IIT KHARAGPUR
 
IIT-Kharagpur has been designated one of the top universities globally for studying many subjects in engineering. The institute was ranked 37th in 2022, and it has improved from its 44th position in 2021 in mineral and mining engineering. The institute has thrust itself into the 80th position in 2022 from 90th in 2021 in electrical and electronic engineering.
 
The institute has ranked 101st globally and third in India in engineering and technology, as per the 12th QS, World University Rankings by Subject 2022 announced on April 6.
 
IIT Kharagpur is ranked among India's top three in the QS ranking. It was placed in the first position regarding statistics and operational research, besides agriculture and forestry and the second position in mineral and mining engineering, environmental sciences, economics and econometrics. The release said that the institute was placed in the third position in engineering and technology, computer science and information systems, and chemical engineering, besides accounting and finance.
 
Jadavpur University

Both Jadavpur University and IIT Delhi are ranked within 401-450 worldwide.
 
Jadavpur University is the only regional university in India ranked in the QS World University Rankings in arts and humanities, 2022.
 
JU Vice-chancellor Prof Suranjan Das, expressing happiness, said the higher educational institution strives to maintain its high academic excellence by putting stress on research activities. Its success is more significant considering it is in the domain of arts and humanities. 
 
Other Indian Institutes

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) ranked 188 worldwide; the University of Delhi ranked 227; IIT Bombay ranked 333, and IIT Delhi ranked between 401 and 450.
 
The programmes that received rankings among Indian institutes are the Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences and the Indian School of Mines (ISM) University, Dhanbad. Both the institutions have broken into the top 100 for the first time.
