Schools of Excellence, Tamil Nadu

Twenty-six schools across the state’s key corporations and municipalities have been selected to be transformed into Schools of Excellence.

These 26 schools will act as platforms that will groom talent, nurture the spirit of sportsmanship and diligence while providing exposure to internal and external opportunities, thereby broadening the horizons for students and teachers.

In order to lay a strong foundation for realizing the vision, the infrastructure of Schools of Excellence will be upgraded to meet the needs of the learning outcomes.

Each of the schools will be provided with well-equipped classrooms as per the need defined by the pupil-teacher ratio. The smart classrooms and Tamil Nadu’s unique initiative of networked hi-tech labs will provide the avenues to groom our students through formative and summative assessments along with digital content to steepen their learning curves.

Recognizing that the enrolment ratio of girl students from government schools in higher education is very low and to promote higher education among girls belonging to economically weaker families, Tamil Nadu Government’s Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Marriage Assistance scheme is being transformed as the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme.

All girl students who studied from Classes 6 to 12 in Government schools will be paid Rs.1,000/- per month directly into their bank account till the uninterrupted completion of their undergraduate degree, diploma, and ITI courses.
