Ahmedabad: The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has given Dr. BR Ambedkar Open University the ‘A++’ grade in the first round of its ranking. This is the only state university that has got A++ and it has also become India’s first state open university to get this grade. NAAC gave the Indian Institute of Teacher Education (IITE) a B grade.

In the second week of this month, NAAC teams carried out inspections of universities that had applied for ranking. Sources said most universities in Gujarat do not apply for the ranking.

Meanwhile, Lucknow University has also been graded with ‘A++’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. Uttar Pradesh Governor and Chancellor Anandiben Patel expressed happiness on getting the highest grade in the NAAC evaluation and congratulated the university family and the people of the state.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also congratulated Lucknow University for its achievement.

“Lucknow University is the first state university in the state, which has achieved this feat. It is a matter of pride for the people of the state,” he said.

Lucknow University has already obtained NAAC grading twice.
